What will you study?

A level Music is a practical approach to studying music from The Western Classical Tradition to the Avant Garde Twentieth Century, as well as Musical Theatre through performance, composition, listening and appraisal. Students will study four set works as well as key aural skills to answer questions on unfamiliar listening. The A level Music course is substantially more exciting and challenging than at GCSE and will develop your skills and abilities towards making you a much more confident performer, composer and all round musician.

Music at V6 allows for focused learning with a low student to teacher ratio as well as providing exciting enrichment and leadership opportunities in a growing and flourishing Music department. You will have the chance to continue instrumental lessons with our excellent team of visiting music teachers and be involved in performance opportunities throughout the year.

Future Pathways

A Level Music is the perfect course for those looking to study the subject further at university or conservatoire. Music A Level students have good physical dexterity, memory and concentration that is widely valued in a wide range of careers including medicine.
