What will you study?
You will have the wonderful opportunity to study technological and social change, looking at the multicultural nature of German-speaking society. You will study highlights of German-speaking artistic culture, including art and architecture, and will learn how Germany's political landscape was formed. Throughout your studies, you will develop your fluency in German and you will be able to express yourself on a wider range of contemporary topics. Finally, you will study texts and film and will have the opportunity to carry out independent research on an area of your choice.
'German is the most widely spoken language in Europe.Germany also has the third strongest economy and is the number one export nation in the world. Knowing German will therefore create business opportunities, especially as Germans are well-known for being innovators.'
Future Pathways
A recent survey by the CBI revealed that German is the most sought-after foreign language by UK employers. Career opportunities with some German qualifications include journalism, translating, interpreting, teaching, law, business and tourism.
